Types Of Eating Disorders:
Anorexia nervosa: This consists of an exaggerated fear of becoming fat, so the person will try to eat very little or nothing, to the point of starving themselves. They also suffer from a distorted self-image, perceiving themselves as fat when they are actually thin or well below their normal weight. They also tend to exercise exaggeratedly.
Binge eating: These are people who also have episodes of compulsive eating, but do not vomit or take laxatives. However, guilt, contempt, and shame are very present, which hinders overall well-being.
Bulimia: This takes the form of episodes of excessive food intake, known as “binge eating”. The food is usually unhealthy and the action of overeating generates an unbearable feeling of guilt, as well as an exaggerated fear of gaining weight. As a result, the person decides to vomit or use laxatives (or both).
